Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens & Ropeway

The Kobe Ropeway is a beautiful mountainside garden located near Shin Kobe Station in Kobe City in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. You can either hike to the top or take a cable car, though the hike is said to take about two hours. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking from the top and even from various points on the mountain, since they all look down on the beautiful port city of Kobe. The flowers and buildings on the ropeway path are also really nice to walk through.

At the very top, there is a perfume museum and a Christmas Market.

The various foods I tried consisted of:

Honey Soft Serve, which had a very light honey flavor to it and wasn’t overly sweet (but also not the most memorable treat ever)

Rose and Orange Cocoa: Yum! Cocoa. That’s all I can really say.

Glass Terrace Cafe Food:

Rose Soft Serve, which had some bitter sauce dressed over it and was only slightly rose flavored, so didn’t have that perfumey taste. It was also kind of forgettable, and should only really be bought for the novelty

Orange is too watery and it doesnt go well with it

Herb Burger: very soft burger with only slight herbyness, esp from the nice greens, very succulent burger – my favorite thing that I bought that day to eat. It was a very original burger, full of fresh tasting ingredients.

The olive cheese tart I tried was obviously for the novelty, but it wasn’t very olivey – neither was it sweet. It was definitely on the dessert side, as far as food is concerned, but it was a very restrained dish.

Lavender Soft Serve: Pretty good. Lavender soft serve is one of my absolute favorite soft serve ice cream flavors, but I have to say that Hokkaido does it better.

Overall, the experience was magical, though. The place is breathtakingly beautiful (a perfect date spot!) and you could spend hours looking at all it has to offer. The iconic Glass House is my favorite location, as the indoor cafe is, well, built with panoramic, glass windows. It is scenic and offers a pretty nice selection of food and drinks – including an all-you-can-drink tea bar. Also head to Kaze no Oka for a refreshing look down at Kobe City and for the breeze and flowers!

Shin Kobe Ropeway is not far from the Shin Kobe Station. The round trip price for the cable car is ¥1,400. You can walk back down from the top, though it takes about 2-3 hours to do so. There are also many other attractions I have no mentioned in this article. If you are interested, please take a look at their English website.
